Pompano Beach Fishing Pier Guide: Hours, Fees, Parking & Sunrise Times

  • Posted on

A pier morning in Pompano Beach is simple: a thermos of coffee, a cooler in the trunk and about 15 minutes of driving from our canal home. By the time the sky turns orange, you can be walking out over the Atlantic on the Fisher Family Pier.

The pier runs nearly 900 feet into the ocean, and the end is shaped like a pompano fish. You don't have to fish to enjoy it: walking out is free, which makes it an easy sunrise outing for the whole family.

We wrote this for our guests and for everyone who commented FISH on Instagram. Sources are linked at the bottom. Fees and hours change, so check before you go.

A Florida fishing license isn't needed because the pier holds its own pier license. According to Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC), a pier license covers everyone saltwater fishing from that pier.

The city lists a single $7 fishing fee. We couldn't find separate prices for kids or seniors, so call the pier if that matters for your group.

Before you go: pier rules

The City of Pompano Beach posts these rules for the pier:

  • Up to 3 rods per person.
  • Children 10 and under must be with a responsible adult.
  • Wear shoes. Bare feet aren't allowed.
  • No animals, bicycles, skateboards or rollerblades.
  • No glass, straws or Styrofoam.
  • No netting of fish or sea life. We'd leave the cast net at home.
  • No shark fishing.
  • No diving or jumping off the pier.
  • No running, and no climbing or sitting on the rails.
  • No littering.

For kids: sneakers on, off the rails, and an adult within arm's reach.

Parking

Pier Parking Garage, 3460 NE 3rd St (954-786-5580). This is the easiest option. Pay at the kiosks on floors 1 to 4, which take tap-to-pay cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

  • $5 a day with a fishing pass. If you paid to fish, you can park for $5 for the day. This is only at the Pier Garage.
  • Valet on the first floor: $10 Monday to Thursday, $15 Friday to Sunday.
  • Regular hourly and daily rates: we couldn't confirm them on an official page, so check the kiosk when you arrive. The same goes for the garage's opening hours.

Street meters and lots. Meter rates depend on the zone and the day, and holidays cost more. The zone number is on the sign. You can pay with the PayByPhone or Passport Parking app. The city's Oceanside Lot is at 100 N Riverside Dr.

Where to eat and get coffee near the pier

The Pier District has several places to eat within a short walk of the pier entrance. These are the hours we could confirm.

  • How You Brewin Coffee Company (on Pier Street). Coffee, breakfast and sandwiches, 7 AM to 6 PM every day.
  • Lucky Fish Beach Bar & Grill (222 N Pompano Beach Blvd, beside the pier entrance). Seafood and grill food, with outdoor seating only. It's listed as open 8 AM to midnight every day, with breakfast from 8 AM. Kids like the swing seats under the tiki roof. Its hours come from a 2026 travel blog, not the restaurant, so check before you go.
  • Oceanic (250 N Pompano Beach Blvd). Open Monday to Friday 11:30 AM to 11 PM and Saturday to Sunday 10 AM to 11 PM. Weekend brunch runs 10 AM to 3 PM.

From our canal home

Our home is about 15 minutes from the pier by car. That makes a sunrise trip easy: leave in the dark, fish or walk the pier, grab coffee on Pier Street, and be back before the rest of the house wakes up.

When you get back:

  • Rinse your gear at the dock. It's a good habit after salt water.
  • Warm up in the heated pool. It feels great after a breezy winter morning on the pier.
  • Stay on the water. The house has kayaks and paddleboards for the canal.
  • Head to the game room when the sun gets strong: a pro pool table, air hockey and arcade basketball.

Floranada Park is across the street for anyone with energy left.
